Happy New Year 2016!

2015 has been an exciting year for me. I made a New Year resolution for 2015 to start designing my own knitwear. Looking back I have released 18 patterns. 3 are free and 15 original designs. The highlights are Poncholina a versatile hooded poncho for adult and kid to be worn on its own under or over a jacket; Harry Potter Time-Turner collection - this is a unique and by me developed stitch pattern to resemble the Time-Turner; Orphan Black scarf - another unique and by me developed pattern to resemble a DNA strand, Afterthought Hooded scarf - an old technique used and adapted for a hooded scarf, Edge Cowl - a fun little accessory to display this beautiful one skein of yarn you don't know what to do with; Full Signal Hat & mittens - an easy intro to brioche (what's all the fuss about?), Mathgirl Hat - this is one of my new favorites. I watched the TV Show the Librarians and saw "Mathgirl" wearing a similar hat. I worked like crazy to figure out the pattern after many attempts.

My free patterns are the Ugly Christmas Beer Hat - a design I came up with because I didn't have enough time to knit a whole sweater; Poseidon Trident bookmark - My daughter and I are big Percy Jackson fans, not more to say; Hugs & Kisses Preemie Hat - My sister had preemie twins born at 27 weeks on April 9th, on the same day my younger daughter Zoe celebrated her 7th birthday. I designed and knitted the hats for her and the children in the NICU unit in Stuttgart, Germany. The twins are doing well and are keeping my sister and her husband busy.

I'm thankful to my family supporting me in my endeavor, my test knitters who work hard to fine tune and provide beautiful examples of my patterns and all you kniting friends who believed in me and purchased my patterns! Thank you and I wish you and your families all the best for the New Year 2016!

Look what I picked up at Four Purls Yarn Store in Winter Haven, Florida! Be prepared for some new designs in 2016.

Poncholina, just a hooded short poncho

I designed Poncholina out of necessity. I was looking for a short poncho with a hood. I could not find on Ravelry anything I liked. I wanted it to be not too long, so that I can move around. Tight enough to fit under a jacket and also pretty enough to be worn on its own. A big hood to not mess up my hair.

I started first with the adult version and then designed a children version. The girls wanted to have some fun fur for their Poncholina.

What's on my needles?

I am a huge Orphan Black fan and can't wait for the new season to start.I am currently working on a DNA sequence scarf. I am using Knit Picks Hawthorne kettle dyed yarn in colors Blackbird and Poseidon. I am working on Ravelry with a group of people to test the pattern.

It must be ready by April 1st. Enough time left to get a scarf finished for season 3.

Here's my progress.

Let me introduce myself!

Hi, my name is Andrea. I love to knit and knit and knit. It keeps me sane. Recently I started creating my own designs and offering my knitting patterns on Ravelry. Some of my knitting products are available for sale in my etsy shop.

I love to play with Kool Aid and dye my own yarn. White yarn never stays around very long.

I am a Stay at Home Mom of two little girls Isabella, 8 and Zoe, 6. They are my models and I love to knit for them.

My husband brought us all to race BMX so if I am not knitting I am with the family at the local track volunteering or riding my bike.

Thank you for stopping by.
